How to Choose an Officially Licensed (PPIU) Umrah Agent
A guide to choosing an officially licensed umrah operator for a safe journey: check legality, price transparency, facilities, and track record.

Choosing the right umrah agent is an important decision that determines both the comfort and the safety of your worship. It is well known that umrah offers vary widely, so pilgrims need to be discerning and not be tempted by unreasonably cheap prices.

Make sure it is officially licensed (PPIU)
A legitimate umrah operator generally holds a licence as an Umrah Travel Organiser (PPIU) from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. You can ask for that licence number and, where possible, verify it through the ministry's official channels. A trustworthy agent is usually open about its legality.

Beware of unreasonable prices
An umrah price far below average deserves suspicion. The cost of flights, hotels, visas, and meals has a reasonable floor. "Too cheap" schemes have several times been the start of trouble for pilgrims. Choose an agent that explains the cost breakdown transparently, including what is and is not covered in the package.

Check facilities and program clarity
Before registering, ask for clear details about:
1. The departure schedule and how certain it is.
2. The airline used and the flight route.
3. The location and distance of hotels from Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi.
4. Meals and transport while in the holy land.
5. The spiritual guide and the manasik training schedule.

Check track record and service
Learn about the experience of previous pilgrims through testimonials, departure documentation, and the office's reputation. A good agent has a clear office address, a team that is easy to reach, and a written contract or agreement that protects pilgrims' rights.

Warning signs to watch for
- Refusing to show legality or dodging questions about the licence.
- Requesting full payment without a written agreement.
- Promising guaranteed departure in a very short time at an unreasonable price.
- Having no clear office or contact.

In short, put safety and clarity above price alone. Before deciding, confirm the agent's licence status with the official authorities and read every point of the agreement carefully so your worship is at ease from the start until you return home.

When registering, ask for a written agreement covering the price, facilities, schedule, and the rights and obligations of both parties. Keep all proof of payment and communication safely. Payment should be made to an official account under the travel company's name, not to a personal account without clarity.

You can also draw on the experience of relatives or communities who have travelled with that agent. A reputation built over time is generally more trustworthy than an attractive advertisement alone. By judging from real evidence, you choose based on facts rather than mere promises.

If in doubt, there is no harm in comparing several agents before deciding. Take the time to visit their office, talk with the staff, and ask technical questions. A well-considered decision at the start will set your heart at ease throughout the pilgrimage.
